Madeira Initiates “Name Our Colors”
Contest for Small Volume Embroiderers
Laconia, NH – Madeira USA has always maintained the thinking that numbers are universal, and when it comes to referencing thread colors, from a global standpoint, numbers are understood worldwide. Thread charts present colors by their number, ecommerce offers color choices by their number, and thread orders are received in lists of color numbers. While all color numbers will remain in place, there have been a growing number of requests from smaller volume embroiderers to be able to refer to their color choices by name. Starting this year, Madeira USA will make that possible, online, for embroiderers who choose to refer to colors by name.
And to include embroiderers’ ideas into the color naming process, a contest has been launched for small volume embroiderers to share their ideas for names of Madeira’s 40 weight Classic Rayon and Polyneon solid colors. Embroiderers are encouraged to go to www.madeiramart.com/color to create a name for their favorite, core color and submit their suggestion. Those names that are chosen will be entered into a drawing to win empty Mini Snap Spool chests, in order to collect and safely store their favorite colors. It is expected to take several months in order to name all 356 Classic Rayon solid colors and 325 Polyneon. Embroiderers can follow the progress, and learn the winning names, by visiting the website often. Madeira’s Classic Rayon and 100% polyester Polyneon 40 weight threads are available on 1,100 yard Mini Snap Cones and 5,500 yard cones.
